Tea in the United States covers everything from a traditional Chinese or Japanese tea house to a Southern sweet-tea counter, and the fastest-growing segment is bubble tea: Taiwanese-style milk teas and fruit teas with tapioca pearls, sold by chains and independents alike with adjustable sugar and ice levels. Tea rooms serving afternoon tea with scones and sandwiches usually require a reservation, while boba shops, juice bars and smoothie shops are walk-in and quick. Kava and kombucha bars are a newer category, and loose-leaf tea stores sell blends, teaware and gifts, often with a tasting counter. Prices for a drink run similar to coffee-shop prices, with premium teas and cold-pressed juices at the high end.

Went to Nana’s Green Tea with my cousin yesterday after seeing a video on IG, and I’m glad we finally tried it. I ordered the hot matcha brown sugar latte, and she got the hot black sesame latte. We also grabbed the matcha chocolate cake — we meant to get the matcha brown sugar cheesecake but ended up with the wrong one.The cake was still pretty good. It’s on the drier side and not sweet at all, but it actually pairs perfectly with the chocolate flavor. My latte wasn’t sweet either, which I liked. My cousin’s black sesame latte was very sweet, so she had to add water to dilute it. The service setup is simple and fully self‑serve. You order on a tablet, wait for your pager to vibrate, pick up your drinks yourself, and clean up your table when you’re done. Overall, we both enjoyed the experience. Unique drinks, chill atmosphere, and even though it’s a little pricey, it’s worth trying.

Tried Nana Green Tea Pasadena since they just opened 🍵 Place was super crowded and everyone had to order from the machine, so it was kinda hectic at first 😭 They told us most food was sold out already, so we just got matcha drinks first and honestly they were really good. Not too sweet and the matcha taste was strong in a good way. Later some food became available again so we got the curry pork katsu, really remind me of the one I had in Japan. Portion was good too. Only thing I didnt really like was the hojicha cake, but overall def will come back ✨

We’ve been waiting for Nana’s Green Tea to open somewhere close to us in SoCal for years and it finally did today! After visiting and enjoying Nana’s Green Tea in Tokyo and Seattle a couple of times over the years, we were super excited to learn about the grand opening of the Pasadena location! We knew there would be a long line today since it was the much anticipated grand opening but we decided to go anyways because we were craving their special parfaits. We came on opening day at around 3:30pm and after waiting behind probably 40 people (surprisingly much less than what the morning brought), we finally reached the front of the line that snaked around the first corner of the building. The wait wasn’t too bad since we were in the shade, which was nice. Instead of ordering at the counter with workers, you just order what you want from a kiosk screen and grab a table that is available. The inside was pretty spacious and well lit with natural lighting from the big windows. There with lots of tables for 2-4 people and some long window-side bar-type tables in the front of the restaurant for those eating alone. We ordered the salmon sashimi don with a soft boiled egg and miso soup, c

Their Matcha is very rich and flavorful, not too sweet, not too bitter, just perfect. Lots of seating areas. We also tried Hojicha soft serve as well, which was very good. The wait wasn’t that bad at around 9pm ish. Definitely will come back again.

Highly anticipated place originated from Tokyo specializing in Japanese desserts, think of parfaits with different toppings and Japanese comfort food like katsu, curry bowls, salmon sashimi bowl. The desserts have highlights of warabimochi, flavors like matcha/sesame/hojicha jellies/ice cream. They have serve softs too. Definitely a heaven for those who love matcha/hojicha/sesame taste food! Staff is professional and friendly. I love that if you don't pick up your order, they will put frozen items like parfait, ice cream etc in the fridge so the quality won't be affected. The sweet level for desserts is according to the Japanese level so not too sweet. Matcha parfait is perfectly sweetened matcha has slight bitterness and mochi was so smooth freshly made. Plus, the dessert place that has amazing food?! Hello? The food definitely compares to the level of Japanese casual chain. Highly recommend Sukiyaki and chicken karaage curry. Update: only minus is parking situation!! Located in Pasadena downtown parking is $12 the whole day?? If you only there for this specific thing, it may hurt your wallet. But this place is bomb.com
